Alone But Not Forgotten: Confronting Senior Social Isolation

At the TOTE Foundation, we believe that no one should grow old feeling invisible. Yet across our communities, countless seniors spend their days in silence- without visitors, without phone calls, without the simple joy of human connection.

This isn't just loneliness. It's social isolation, and it's a public health crisis hiding in plain sight

Behind Closed Doors

Social Isolation affects nearly one in four adults over 65. It's more than missing a birthday party- it's missing every birthday. It's going days, weeks, even months without meaningful interaction. And it's linked to serious health risks, including depression, cognitive decline, and even premature death.

But behind every statistic is a story. A widow who lost her social circle. A veteran whose family moved away. A grandmother who no longer drives and can't attend church. These are the voices we must hear.

What Connection Can DO

At TOTE, we've seen firsthand how a simple act- a birthday party, a parade, a handwritten card, a shared meal- can transform a life. When seniors feel seen, they come alive. They smile more. They speak more. They remember that they matter. Connection isn't a luxury. It's a lifeline.

Our Mission: Think of the elderly

We're on a mission to end social isolation in Little Rock, Arkansas and beyond. Through community events, outreach programs, and joyful micro- moments, we're building a world where every elder feels valued.

But we can't do it alone.
